Six and a Half Month Milestones

I need to write this stuff down so I don’t forget it.  In the past couple of weeks, Cason has become a pretty solid sitter.  We can’t leave him on a hard surface for fear of the eventual fall when he gets tired but he’ll sit up for long stretches, especially when properly entertained.

Like by the mobile… (I think he looks a lot like his cousin Helmi in the first picture)

Or the mirror…

This is his new favorite face to make…

He’s also starting to be interested in books… or at least wants to eat them…

Bath time is more fun now that he can reach for his toys. He loves his basketball duck!

He’s also pushing up as far has his arms will let him when on his tummy.  A couple of times I’ve seen him get his bottom up in the air but never at the same time as his chest.  He’ll be on all fours before we know it.

For the past two weeks, Cason is also eating baby food every night .  We’d been trying cereal about once a week since 4 months without much success.  I got out the baby food maker and started with sweet potatoes and carrots.  It was so easy and so cheap.  In less than 1 hour, I had two+ weeks worth of food.  The first week of feeding was tough … refusing the spoon, figuring out when Mom and Dad eat, etc.  But we are starting to get the hang of it.  Cason will open his mouth and is actually keeping some of the food in.  We’ve worked it into our short nightly routine and will probably move on to green veggies next week.
